One of the most visited villages is Fira. It offers an exquisite volcano views and it is full of expensive jewelry and souvenir selling shops, clubs, cafes and restaurants. On its narrow streets you will often notice artists from all over the world. Fira also attracts many ”cruisers” from the cruise ships. It’s interesting they all dock and infiltrate the Island at once and once they leave its back to peaceful & serene Santorini again!
Oia is a another most popular village on the island popular with visitors. Oia is the most photographed village in Greece. Life is quieter here than in Fira, with fewer bars but there are plenty of cafes and restaurants. There are also many shops flooded by tourists. The main reason tourists visit Oia is the sensational sunset view for which a crowd of people gather in the afternoon and wait for hours till the sun sets to take photographs.
The cuisine on the Island is a fresh Mediterranean & Healthy one, with lots of seafood which is caught right on the premises. Santorini, offers a diverse and delicious cuisine. The Volcanic soil provides an ideal place for organic produce, the cherry tomatoes on the island are especially a favorite. Also eggplant, capers, olives & grape vines which produce the best grapes for Santorini’s exclusive variety of Wines. Greek yogurt is also one of the favorites, usually topped with honey and preserves is served at breakfast for a refreshing start to your day on the beautiful island of Sanotirini!
